The survey was launched in January 2022 as part of the main data collection period for Sally Hurst’s Masters of Research project. The survey was open to everyone over the age of 10 in Australia, and aimed to reach farmers, Indigenous communities, bushwalkers, beachgoers, and beyond.

The survey asked questions about what Australians might do if they ever discovered a fossil or an Indigenous artefact, if there were aware of heritage laws in their state, and what sources of information they might trust.

It is hoped that the responses you submitted in the survey will help to show the perceptions of Australians about the amazing heritage material we have in this country, and how we better protect and celebrate it in the future.

The survey closed on the 30th of June 2022.
